The Oak Room

★ 4.3 · 50 reviews Washington, D.C. Opened July 2026

Prime rib downstairs, a 1920s Steinway upstairs

Georgetown got another steakhouse in July 2026. The Oak Room does prime rib, beef tartare and a lot of martinis on the ground floor.

Upstairs is Bernadette, a separate cocktail bar with live music and a restored 1920s Steinway grand. Eat downstairs, drink upstairs, in that order.

This place was amazing!! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, the service was incredible, and the food was seriously over the top. My husband and I loved the burger and crab cake — both were unreal. We’re officially the new regulars!!

Our waiter Umberto was exceptional! Gave us recommendations that we loved. Hamachi and the Caesar salad are our recommendations and the steaks were the stand out! The New York Strip and the Filet Mignon with spinach and vegetables for our main. Probably the best New York Strip we have ever had! Well done Oak Room !!! Such a great addition to DC !!

We recently visited The Oak Room in Georgetown for dinner and enjoyed trying a variety of dishes. The restaurant has an elegant, upscale American grill atmosphere that's great for a special occasion. I started with the Menage Au Poire ($18), a refreshing and fruity cocktail made with Grey Goose Pear, vanilla, lychee, and soda. To share, we ordered the Fish Sticks ($28) with Petrossian caviar beurre blanc and the Hamachi ($28) with sweet and sour tomatoes, avocado, and toasted nori. The Hamachi was fresh and flavorful, while the Fish Sticks offered a unique twist with the caviar beurre blanc. For our entrées, we had Bernadette's Wagyu Cheeseburger ($32) with Comté, pickles, and aioli, along with the Dover Sole ($89) prepared with lemon, brown butter, and capers. Unfortunately, both entrées were noticeably saltier than expected, which overpowered some of the flavors and made them less enjoyable, especially considering the price point. Dessert ended the meal on a high note. Mama's Cobbler ($16) with peach, blackberry, and vanilla crème fraîche was warm and comforting, while the Pudding Pie ($16) with Guinness, chocolate, and vanilla cream brought back fond childhood memories of a dirt cake with its rich, nostalgic flavor. While we enjoyed several aspects of the meal, the overall experience didn't quite meet our expectations for the price point, leaving us feeling it was good rather than exceptional.

One of the best restaurants I have eaten at in DC. The decor is stunning yet inviting. The burger is absolutely delicious and a must try. The classic cocktail list is something Georgetown has needed for a while! Will be back very often.
