All-you-can-eat sushi from Tim Ma, from $55
Tim Ma opened Sushi Sato on H Street in July 2025 with an all-you-can-eat format starting at $55, which is not where you expect a chef of his standing to go.
It was one of three DC openings he did that year. Order from the counter rather than the sheet if you want to see what the kitchen can actually do.

Excellent dinner here, the sushi was solid and service was good as well. The place is a bit cramped but otherwise good, very sleek and modern aesthetic. We enjoyed all three rolls we ordered. Could have done without the chicken karaage, it didn't have much flavor on its, especially the chicken itself. Cocktails were great as well.

We have been twice in the last month and both times enjoyed the food and would go back again. We tried everything off the happy hour menu and a few more things. Everything has been good if not great. The cucumber salad is the weakest and wasn't bad just not very flavorful. We would like to see them improve this because my family loves cucumber salads. The service was outstanding this evening. The first time they were understaffed but still had good service. We ate on the second floor (cool handmade wall paper) as well as the first floor. We enjoyed both settings as a family of four

Exceptional, uncompromising sushi quality and stunning vibes on H Street! I am deeply impressed every single time I visit. If you want premium, high-quality sushi in the District, they offer uncompromising food quality at an incredible price point. Their "Premium AYCE" is an absolute masterpiece of fresh ingredients. In this photo is our spread, which included the incredible King salmon from New Zealand, Yellowtail from Japan, and Truffle Tuna from Costa Rica and the tuna crispy rice duo is a mandatory order! The hospitality matches that premium food quality. Simon and his entire staff are incredibly warm, welcoming, and treat you like family from the moment you walk in. I’ve seen a few reviews mentioning the staggered timing of the hot kitchen food, but I actually view it as a major positive. When I chatted with Simon, he humbly shared how much he genuinely appreciates all guest feedback and is always looking to improve. He explained that to ensure the sushi stays absolutely pristine, they freshly prepare and serve the hot dishes tapas-style as they are ready. It actually turned our meal into a beautifully paced, unhurried tasting experience where we could slowly savor each distinct flavor instead of being rushed with everything dropping at once. Beyond the food and service, the overall atmosphere inside is wonderful. Make sure to check out the incredible new mural artwork on the outside building, too! I heard a group of artists from Japan recently collaborated on it, and it adds such a cool, authentic, and creative energy to the whole experience. Sushi Sato is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood, highly recommended!

Food 8/10 Price 7/10 (8/10 with inKind) Service 8/10 Overall 8/10 Will definitely be back! We got the premium AYCE sushi ($78/person). There are a few selections that were exclusive to the premium AYCE and on top of that, a few of those would be 1 order per person. However, even with these restrictions, this is definitely our favorite AYCE sushi in the NoVa/DC area and worth the premium price (with inKind). We liked the small plates/appetizers that we ordered. The miso soup was average. The tuna tartare was creamy and delicious. The miso black cod was one of our favorites but is limited to one per person. For rolls, we got the soft shell crab, truffle baby (tuna), salmon party, and the spicy scallop. The rolls weren’t our favorites but the fish quality was great. Both the salmon party and truffle baby had too much going on. The soft shell crab roll wasn’t that special. Of the rolls, the spicy scallop was the best but we realized we prefer cooked scallops to raw as we tried more raw scallop. The nigiri and sashimi were the highlight of the meal. Our favorites were the premium exclusive nigiris - red snapper, flounder and toro. The king salmon was also delicious. We also ordered squid, eel, scallop, yellowtail, and tuna. All of them so good. Each nigiri and sashimi order comes in two pieces. Our waiter was very sweet and made us feel special since we were celebrating. The young worker bringing out the food was genuinely hardworking and always pointed out the different rolls and types of fish on the plate - something that we really appreciated. This is our top AYCE sushi spot for sure and we will be coming back.

Sushi Sato is honestly one of the best sushi spots I’ve been to in DC. Every dish felt premium and thoughtfully made, but the Miso Black Cod completely stole the show for me everyone needs to try it at least once. The sushi was incredibly fresh, balanced, and beautifully done. And my favorite cocktail, “MURASAKI” was an easy 10/10. I sat upstairs and loved the atmosphere classy, cozy, and perfect for either a date night or hanging out with friends. I already know I’ll be coming back again. If you’re still debating whether to go, just do it. It’s absolutely worth it.
