The Riggsby

Back after six years dark and a $6m rebuild
The Riggsby went dark for six years. It reopened at the Royal Sonesta on P Street in July 2026 after a $6 million renovation, still doing the mid-century thing that made it work the first time.
Prime rib, lobster risotto, a wine list that has clearly had money spent on it. This is the room for a dinner that needs to feel like an occasion.

My server Will went above and beyond for me and my wife on our date night. Wife loved the atmosphere and was the first restaurant where the music selection didnt sound like I was in a Zara in a minute.

Wandered in for martini happy hour and ended up staying all night, ended having several appetizers my favorite was teh gnocchi with escargot, the out of the shell mussels, and the prime steak tartare. Next time the double cut pork chop has my name on it.

Riggsby delivered a truly memorable dining experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, Manager Ed was really nice and made me feel welcomed right away, setting a warm, polished tone for the entire visit. The decor was stylish and plush, with an atmosphere that felt both elegant and comfortable—exactly the kind of setting where you can relax and enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. My favorite highlight, though, was the bar. Jose was my bartender, and his drinks were extremely phenomenal. Every cocktail felt well-crafted and flavorful, with impressive balance that made it easy to want another round. Overall, Riggsby nailed the details: great hospitality, a beautifully inviting space, and standout cocktails that elevated the night. It’s a spot I’d happily return to for both the ambiance and the drinks.
