Handmade pasta, parchment-steamed and torn open at the table

Watch for the puffed-up paper parcel landing on the table. That's the move at Don Cartoccio: dishes sealed in parchment and steamed to order, torn open right in front of you. Raviolis, tagliatelle and gnocchi get made in house daily, upstairs in a La Hechicera strip mall near Universidad de Los Andes.

The wine list sticks to Italian bottles instead of chasing every country. Save room for tiramisu or Sicilian cannoli. It runs noon to 10pm every day, handy in a neighborhood that runs on student schedules, not fixed mealtimes.
