BAO MeBu's third Vienna address, adding sushi and donburi to their Asian-food lineup
Matsu opened on Lerchenfelder Straße in March 2026 as the third Vienna location from BAO MeBu, which runs addresses in Taborstraße and Spitalgasse. Where the earlier locations built a following on bao and noodle dishes, Matsu shifts the focus to sushi and Japanese cooking specifically.
The rolls run from uramaki with flame-torched salmon or tuna to a rib-eye steak roll and a plant-based pulled-pork version, alongside futomaki, hosomaki, nigiri, and donburi rice bowls. Matsu is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 9pm, closed Sunday and Monday.

Wanted to have a taste that Vienna can offer from good sushi. Matsu got recommended by Claude and I instantly liked the place. Went there for a lunch for two. Eat a recommendation from staff and it was best sushi I have tasted in Europe!

Very cute, small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. The sushi (we had a Nigiri Mix) was absolutely delicious (melt-in-your-mouth-delicious) and definitely among my top 3 sushi experiences. Prices are completely reasonable and I will definitely come again!

A must-go for sushi lovers in Vienna!! ❤️🩹✨ The food itself was insanely good — the kind of good that makes you roll your eyes. YES, believe me. The heartwarming staff was the cherry on top. Ps: We had the sushi platter for two ;)
