A handroll-only sushi bar on Queen's Road East
Order two or eat six. Roru Baru runs a list of about a dozen temaki, each rolled to order at the counter, nori and all, not pre-made and sitting under glass. Eat it fast, within a minute or two, while the seaweed still snaps.
Handroll-only bars have spread across Hong Kong as a cheaper way into sushi-adjacent eating than a full omakase counter. This one sits on Wan Chai's older commercial strip on Queen's Road East, away from the pricier addresses toward Central, with rolls priced individually so you can scale the order to your appetite.

I booked the places for 2 ppl and ordered the chefs menu (with 7 rolls) on a weekday. Itās value for money because I felt so full after the meal. The selection of this set is also different with the other sets. The waitress told me the ingredients of this set is more premium eg sea urchin. The only downside is that it might not fit for many people because itās bar table setting. Itās completely full during dinner time, I suggest making reservations.

Had an amazing lunch at this Japanese spot! We tried the hand rolls and sashimi rice bowl lunch set, and everything was spot on. The sashimi was fresh and buttery, the rice was perfectly seasoned, and the hand rolls were delicious. The set also came with yummy shrimp soup, a tasty Japanese-style seaweed salad, and a lovely tuna appetiser to start. Every component felt thoughtfully prepared.

The Handroll Experience Hong Kong Was Missing Roru Baru is a breath of fresh air for the local dining scene. It is exactly what Hong Kong has been missingāa dedicated Japanese handroll spot that hits the perfect balance of high-quality ingredients and a relaxed, modern vibe. The food is fantastic; the seaweed is crisp, the fish is incredibly fresh, and the rice is seasoned perfectly. Beyond the menu, the service is what really sets this place apartāthe staff is attentive, welcoming, and makes the whole experience seamless. Whether youāre looking for a quick, high-end bite or a full dinner, this is easily one of the best new additions to the city. Iāll definitely be back soon!
