Eska Letná

★ 4.2 · 175 reviews Prague Opened 7 February 2025

Eska's bread-first Letná branch, opened 7 February 2025

Eska's second location opened at noon on 7 February 2025 on the corner of Veletržní and Malířská, and filled to capacity within minutes. People queued down the street for a sixty-eight-crown loaf, which local press found funny and slightly grim in equal measure.

Unlike the Karlín original this one is built around bread and groceries rather than a dining room. The shelves carry Ambiente's own preserves, granola, sauces and cured meats, plus sweets from the Myšák patisserie. Seating is limited on purpose.

Good to know

  • Come early. The bread is usually gone well before closing.

Amazing bread, probably the best thing they make. The sweet pastries are good too, but not really better or worse than what you can get in other nearby coffee shops. What disappoints me is the coffee. There is no decaf option, and the prices keep going up. A simple batch brew now costs over 100 CZK, which feels unreasonable, especially when there are several equally good coffee shops just a few meters away. Because of that, we started buying coffee elsewhere, and since we’re already there, we usually get our pastries there too. So double loss for Eska… Another disappointment is the service. The ladies at the counter don’t really fit the concept of the place. They are not very friendly or customer-oriented, and on several occasions they ignored my request to use my collected Ambi points when paying, which was frustrating. I think it’s worth reconsidering both the coffee offer and the customer service, because they are now the main reasons we visit less often and spend less in the bakery/shop, I feel the same sentiment from other friends too. But after all, whether that makes business sense for Eska is up to them…

A little expensive but in my opinion it is well worth it. I recommend Loupák and their Batch brew.

I don’t think the store is especially welcoming given that I came a few times (to give it one more chance), but most of the time the staff was not very pleasant(three stars because of the one guy who was super nice). Also the queue order is quite weird as one has to come to the till first and then only explore what is offered. But don’t dare to spend too much time doing so as the staff does not seem to like it. When you try to browse the selection of baked goods first, they will not so not nicely remind you that queue is from the other side. And yes, it’s especially funny when there is only one customer… so not sure what they want the customers to do and how one should shop there. Because yes, I like to see what is offered and better understand the ingredients, especially I have not seen the list with allergens or what is actually in some of the pastries so I sometimes have to check it online. Additionally, I was always quite disappointed with the baked goods, because for the price they just taste ok and not even that great. I tried both sweet and savoury options (not the bread). I also bought some other non-baked goods there, which were better, but still did not justify the price.

it was a lovely regular cafe, food was okay, service was okay… i ordered their sandwich 33 with kimchi and scamorza, it’s not something that i would say “wow! let’s have this again next week” but it’s warm and cheesy, can’t say no on a warm sandwich on a cold day. the flat white was not bad though! the shop beside was quite interesting to shop, i bought their coffee beans and it was okay. will i be back? maybe.
