Doubleshot's original Prague café, in the middle of Karlín

Můj šálek kávy is the home café of Doubleshot, the Czech roastery that did as much as anyone to build a specialty coffee scene here. It sits on Křižíkova in the middle of Karlín, a few doors from the metro.

The roast changes regularly and staff will talk you through what is on the bar without making it a performance. Breakfast and brunch are substantial rather than token, and the outdoor seating on the pavement is some of the most fought-over in the district.

This cafe is always busy and rightly so. Food and cakes are always super tasty, coffee is exceptional and staff is friendly and helpful. On my last visit, a young man was less helpful than I would have liked but I think it might have been cause they were busy :-) I will be back and highly recommend.

We loved this place so much that we came twice. This was the best coffee we had during our week in Prague, and the food was excellent, as well. They offered two choices of beans for espresso based drinks, and we got the fruitier one - it did not disappoint. One of the best coffees I’ve had in recent memory. We also had one of their pourovers, which was delicious too. They offer a good assortment of pourovers, including some geishas. We had okanomayaki and french toast (two separate menu items) and both were great, during our first visit. On the second visit, we had a tuna melt which was also very good. We had a pastry too, a strawberry and rhubarb item which was very satisfying. Overall, a definite recommend. This is a fantastic spot for coffee and food.

Missed the breakfast menu so we got the Turkish eggs and the potato pancake with pork belly. Turkish eggs were great, the flavours were light. The pork belly was also really yummy and the vegetables complemented the meat, although it was a little oily. This was a good meal.

This was extremely delicious, and I’m not exaggerating 😅 Bread, tahini, hummus, pomegranate, pesto, greens, dried tomatoes, cauliflower… I even wrote down the ingredients from the menu so I could try to remake it at home, but I could never make it taste the same hahaha 😅. I really loved this place ☀️
