Bar Piatto

Italian osteria, Japanese edge, courtyard cocktails
Bar Piatto landed on Mejlgade in April 2025 with a menu built on Italian osteria basics: small plates, house-made pasta, natural wine. Japanese technique and ingredients show up often enough that the kitchen doesn't sit neatly in one category.
A cocktail bar shares the address and spills into a courtyard when the weather cooperates. Come for a quick drink or stay for dinner; there's no set menu pushing you through a fixed sequence of courses.

We had a fantastic evening at Bar Piatto, which deserves my warmest recommendation. They serve excellent Italian food, but with an exciting Japanese twist in many of the dishes. The approach is more experimental than traditional Italian cuisine, and they strike the balance perfectly. The pasta with salsiccia, sugar snap peas and chicken stock in particular was right out of the box, just like the monkfish with a completely magical sauce was an unforgettable experience. Even the dessert was of a high standard. When you combine that with the cozy premises and the welcoming service, there is only one thing to say: Highly recommended from here!

The restaurant has a really nice vibe and international allures. Great artwork on the walls. We took the menu, which we found very reasonably priced. The food was great, surprising starters, followed by some more classic pasta and fish. We got a good choice of wine. Although super full, we had to finish with a Affogato 👌🏻 Just a decafe would have had been nice for my friend, but then that is really the only thing! And then after, the cocktailbar in the back…

One of the finest restaurant in Denmark. And having lived in Copenhagen for seven years and have eaten at virtually all fine or creative restaurants, I would say Bar Piatto took the crown jewel of restaurant in the country. The flavour explodes in your mouth and enhances local and ordinary ingredients to an unimaginable degree. The service was reliable , the chef willing to communicate with the client about the daily dishes.

Fantastic in every way! The food is delicious Italian in new ways with a few Japanese touches. In particular, the grilled fish with salmoriglio sauce was probably the best fish serving ever! Also delicious wines and at absolutely reasonable prices. Great atmosphere, not least since it was only possible to sit at the bar. All staff were highly dedicated and with absolutely the right knowledge of everything relevant.

Fantastic food. Nice atmosphere.. especially the dish with fried bread and Parma ham was absolutely fantastic. The fish dish was well-cooked without surprises. Tomato with parmesan ok. The food well-cooked. Service really good. All in all, worth a visit. Maybe we should have tried their menu. Because the chef's choice can often do something really special in terms of putting together taste experiences. My lovely dining friend was completely blown away by the food and wanted to dance over the taste impulses. So the food rhythm struck a chord with her. (plus the bubbles). And although it sounded beautiful to me, I wasn't as blown away... the wine was average and could have been a tad cooler for my taste. The acoustics could be worked on a bit. But these are the little things that detract from top marks. If I could give 4.6 I would have. Thanks for a great evening.
