Polish milk bar cooking, reworked for Vester Allé
Mleko opened on Vester Allé in 2025, borrowing its name and idea from the Polish milk bar, the canteen-style spots built around cheap, homely food. The kitchen doesn't copy the format exactly: classic Eastern European dishes get more technique than a bar mleczny back in Warsaw would ever use.
It's one of the only restaurants in Aarhus built specifically around Polish and Eastern European cooking, rather than folding it into a broader European menu.

I had been looking for some Eastern European food in Aarhus for quite a while before I coincidentally came across this place. It did not disappoint! The staff prepared borscht and pelmeni for me even though the kitchen had just closed. Excellent service, amazing food. I’ll come back again and would reccomend!

I really try not to get my hopes up, but as a Dane who has travelled through all the Eastern European countries, I truly appreciate this restaurant. The quality is overall very good. A really cool place. I hope it will not be the last time I visit. Dyanki i spasiba!

Pelmeni and vegetable soup were tasty. I didn’t have a chance to taste other dishes, but I believe they are also good. As someone born in the USSR, this place made me feel nostalgic 🙂 And I hadn’t drunk Borjomi for a long time — I really missed its taste. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

Pelmeni vareniky was the best thing from here, and the staff were very friendly. Be warned, though, that this is slavic cuisine, so everything comes with sour cream.
