Palma y Celia sits inside an office building on Roberto Pastoriza, an address that doesn't hint at what's inside. The menu is international but leans on local Caribbean ingredients rather than importing everything.

It's become one of the restaurants credited with diversifying Santo Domingo's dining options. Lunch serves the office crowd around it, dinner picks up once that crowd clears out.

We went at lunch, so the atmosphere was a little slow and service was a little bit lacking. However, the food was absolutely excellent. The atmosphere is very nice very well decorated and nicely situated. The menu had many interesting items that I will go back and try. The tuna steak was delicious and well prepared. The risotto was also very tasty. I will go back at night as they have live music and I’m sure the ambience will be much more lively.

The Yuca and Goat meat croquetes were a bit bland. The Beef and Mushroom Paella was delicious and generous, tender well cooked ribeye. The flan was also delicious, the whipped cream was a bit fadded but the combo was a TREAT! Prices a bit high $$$. Wines start at about $40 a bottle. Service was excellent Gian Carlo was on top of everything, thank you! So 1 bottle wine+1 bottle water+ croquetes+beef and mushroom paella + flan + 10% tip = US$180. FYI
