Pastries designed like graphic art, from an online-famous baker's first shop
Tal Spiegel treats each pastry as a visual object as much as something to eat, applying his graphic-design background directly to the case. This Marais address is his first pâtisserie, after building a following for his design-forward desserts online.
The case runs through changing viennoiserie and limited-run pieces rather than a fixed lineup. It's built to pull people back for whatever's on offer that week. It landed his design-forward pastry among Paris's densest concentration of bakeries, traditional and reinvented.

Abra is the kind of place where everything just feels right. The pastries are beautiful but, more importantly, they taste as good as they look: precise, balanced, never too sweet, with great textures and very clean flavours. The viennoiseries are absolutely fantastic. Crisp, buttery, light, beautifully layered and perfectly baked. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail. Nothing feels overdone or designed just for Instagram. It’s simply very, very good.

The pastries here are outstanding! We had the strawberry ricotta and the black sesame pastry, both of which were absolutely incredible. We actually had to go back a second time because this patisserie has such an amazing, creative selection of treats. The staff is great, and the venue is very cool with plenty of outdoor seating.

One of my favorite bakeries in Paris! I’m absolutely obsessed with their unique take on traditional pastries. I tried every variety they had, and my absolute favorite is the one with pumpkin seeds. If I lived in Paris, I would eat these every single day without a doubt…

There were a lot of beautiful desserts and pastries to choose from. We got the Chapiteau Cirque, which had popcorn ganache, corn cream, peanut caramel, popcorn crisp, white chocolate. Overall, I thought this particular dessert was OK. If the dessert is eaten with all the layers, it tastes great and the popcorn came through. However, there was a lot of mousse in the dessert and if eaten plain, it didn't taste like much. I would come back again to try a different dessert, but wouldn't recommend the Chapiteau Cirque. Note, we visited the Abra location at the Galeries Lafayette, but I can't find the location to review on Google.

This pastry shop is beautiful and everything looks amazing the products truly look like science fiction because of their incredible design! However, I tried the “Presse Agrumes” lemon tart and found it wasn't special at all. Honestly, I think I prefer a conventional lemon pie. It’s worth visiting for the visual experience, but that specific pastry fell a bit short on flavor
