Skóg: restaurant interior and oven

Skóg

★ 5.0 · 71 reviews Vilnius Opened August 2025

An Icelandic chef reads the Lithuanian forest

Skóg means forest in Icelandic, and that's the whole idea here. The tasting menu reads Lithuanian landscapes through a Nordic lens, heavy on fermentation and whatever the foraging calendar gave up that week.

Chef Arnór Ingi Bjarkason, the first in Lithuania to hold a Michelin Green Star, runs the fire while Lina Marija Balčiūnaitė runs the room. It's a small space doing one set menu, so book ahead.

Really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was delicious, creative, and pleasantly unusual. The wine pairing was absolutely fantastic and complemented the dishes perfectly. The service was outstanding as well — attentive, professional, and warm. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

For me, as a Lithuanian, Arnor's dishes gave so many nostalgic and happy moments - the ingredients raise memories from childhood, or Lithuanian forests, and they are prepared and blended with Nordic inspirations in the best way possible. The perfectly paired wines elevated the whole experience even more. The place is very cosy, with music of great taste playing in the background, the owners' cutest dog Blues keeping you company, and of course, Michelin-awarded service from Lina and her team. Also, the occasional pizza Sundays they make in collaboration with other chefs is a very fun and must-visit event!

Incredible food, with each course being something new and surprising. The service was also amazing - there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere, you can really feel how much passion there is for every detail. Absolutely not surprising that the chef and the service have Michelin awards. Would come back any time!

Well... atmosphere still more the pizzeria than fine dinning restaurant. Food was ok, some dishes were extraordinary, some below the average. Most unpleasant sourdough crust was soggy and cod was undercooked. Otherwise huge potential with tastes, mixtures, presentations and combinations. We got chefs table, what was bad experience seeing chef arguing with the stuff and in general felt tence in the kitchen operations. Totally understand it's learning period, but you can't charge for dinner fine dinning price when you are learning and your guests can't see arguing and tence in front of their eyes. Full support to improve and all the best, we'll come again after some time ;)
