Pomakora

Chiclayo's north-coast cooking lands in Magdalena

The menu at Pomakora reads like a tour of northern Peru: ceviche with tortitas de choclo, sudado, espesado, cabrito al horno, costillar al ají, and ceviches finished over fire. Ray Cayó built this place around Chiclayo's flavors, and it shows in every plate.

Order the leche de tigre de la casa. It comes out yellow from the ajíes instead of the usual pale color, and it's the clearest sign of the kitchen's roots.

The most delicious chiclayanan food in the capital! I totally recommend this place over many other. Even if you’re staying in Miraflores or barranco, have the time to come. Advice: try pescado del día a lo macho

Yes we were boring and went for the traditional Lomo Soltado and traditional ceviche. It was amazing though, the best we had in Lima. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be sorry!

The best part was the service. The gentleman who served us (César) was very kind and attentive. He answered all our questions and was always available if we needed anything, without being pushy. The fritters were tasty, but just okay. The fish square was a little small. On the other hand, the seafood tacu tacu was spectacular. The sauce and the seafood mix were superb. It was also large enough to share between two. The restaurant is spacious and pleasant, and the chairs are very comfortable. At times it's quite drafty because there are no windows. However, they do try to keep it warm with heaters. Two small areas for improvement: the spoons could be a little bigger, and they could add hooks for purses/bags.

Review for Pomakora Restaurante & Barra My wife and I recently dined at Pomakora Restaurante & Barra, and it was a delightful experience overall! We started with the Tapas Pomak, which was a highlight. The yellow tortas de choclo paired perfectly with the yellow ceviche de aji amarillo—the flavors were vibrant and absolutely delicious, a fantastic introduction to the meal. For her main, my wife ordered the Seco de Cabrito. The flavor was rich and the meat was incredibly tender, which she loved. However, she felt the portion could have included more meat and fewer potatoes to balance the dish better. Still, the taste was spot-on. I opted for the Lomo de Mero de Murique con una salsa A Lo Macho and it was a 10/10 for flavor. The mero fish was cooked perfectly, and the seafood sauce was a standout, complementing the dish beautifully. Served with white rice and yucca, it was both satisfying and delicious. Overall, Pomakora delivered bold Peruvian flavors and a great dining experience. We’d definitely return and try more dishes. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic and tasty cuisine!
