Modern Thai cooking, four floors above Talat Noi

Climb the stairwell of a Charoen Krung shophouse on the Talat Noi edge of Chinatown and you land in Sakkwa's fourth-floor dining room. The cooking is modern Thai: dishes you'd recognise, rebuilt rather than reinvented.

It's one of a wave of new Thai kitchens colonising this stretch of old shophouse stock, and the walk up is half the point, all street life and Talat Noi grit before you even sit down. It's landed on Koktail's 2026 list of Bangkok openings worth watching.

First time coming to Sakkwa and we weren’t disappointed. Nam & Noon were spot on with their recommendations and we had a wonderful evening. Everything was amazing. When I thought the duck and raw shrimps were the best dish of the night, the dessert blew us away with it contrasting favour of umami & custard sweetness. Don’t forget to order the Thai rice wine to pair with the food. It works very well together. Will be back again on our next trip to Bangkok.

We had dinner on a weekday. It was easy to make reservations via WhatsApp. The food was great. Flavourful and peppered with twists. The staff were attentive and helpful. Kudos to Nam who introduced the menu to us and made great recommendations. It was nice to see Nam working with joy and proud of the chef’s creations. There are already many good reviews of the food and hence I’ll just focus on desserts. They were delicious (the chef spent two hours to make the coconut biscuits) and the serving spoons were specially chosen by the chef for the ergonomic design. It was a sweet ending to our memorable dinner.

Excellent dinner at Sakkwa! The food was authentic, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. A special thanks to Chef Tae and his wife, Am, for their warm hospitality and outstanding service. The marinated king prawn was amazing, and the duck sausage with duck neck casing was truly outstanding. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. We were so impressed that we will be bringing our larger group next month. Highly recommended!

This is probably the best new Thai restaurant in Bangkok. The food is thoughtful, well executed, and I think, authentic. I’m not Thai, but I loved this place. And I have to say, the coconut ice cream with the fish sauce caramel is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!!!

Food: Superb, everything was very well thought out and flavors blended incredibly well together. Service: Warm, friendly, Khun Nam made an already 10/10 dinner even better. Thailand hospitality to its finest. Recommended dishes - ผักโอซุ่น - The icecream (sadly I forgot the name) Everything we ordered was fantastic, just these two really stood out.
