A rose garden on the canal road, Doi Suthep in every window

Wake up to roses or wake up to a mountain. The Clover's rooms face either the garden and pool or the ridge of Doi Suthep, and on wet-season mornings the peak sits under cloud right outside the glass. The whole site is planted as a rose garden, with buildings wrapped around it instead of stacked into a block, rare for a city where new hotels cluster in Nimman.

It's a four-star run by an independent Chiang Mai operator, not a chain. There's a poolside restaurant for breakfast and dinner, free bikes, and a sun terrace. The Old City is fifteen minutes by car; the convention centre and university are closer. Opening rates were low enough that Thai travel accounts called it the city's value pick.

Good to know

• Ask for a room on the mountain side - the Doi Suthep view is the reason to stay out here.
• It is on Canal Road near the Chalerm Phrakiat roundabout, so you need a scooter or a Grab to reach Nimman.
