Northern Thai cooking that outdoes home kitchens

Khao soi, sai ua sausage, nam prik ong with num, and gaeng hang lay curry: this is Lanna food done the way someone's grandmother would do it, if she ran a restaurant. People travel to Chiang Mai specifically to eat here.

The restaurant fills a busy house in Santitham, packed at both lunch and dinner with locals and travelers who did their homework. It made the Michelin guide's Chiang Mai selection, and it earns it.

Manual table reservation system - first thing you do when you arrive at the venue is to write down your table details on the paper that is available in the middle of the restaurant. Came on a Friday around 11+am, probably about 5 to 10 waiting time for a table of 2 so it was still alright. Food was great but come back with bigger group size so that you can try more dishes!

Had a great meal at Huen Muan Jai. The Northern Thai platter is a fantastic choice if you want to try a variety of authentic local dishes in one meal. It’s a great introduction to the flavors of Northern Thailand, and everything was well prepared and full of character. The restaurant has a charming traditional atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you’re visiting Chiang Mai and want to experience authentic Northern Thai cuisine, this is definitely a place worth trying.

We got the appetiser sample since we wanted to try some of their special without having food to waster since we’re just dining for two. The food is hearty and good to share with a group of friends or large family. The food as they say is authentic northern thai, but some would say it might be toned down to accommodate the western palate, but all in all it was good. The pork rind with roasted chili dip is one of our favourite and it is good paired with rice, you can opt for the pigs blood sticky rice so you can try something different. The restaurant was spacious, warm and comforting. We didn’t have to wait in line and we were seating immediately.

Beautiful restaurant that serve yummy food. You get to taste a few authentic northern Thai dishes at one go. Tried the Ka Nom Jin Nam Ngiao and love it! Everything else I ordered tastes good too.

Everything is new experience for this northern style Thai cuisine. Notes wise , more to sweet based for the food. Surprisingly is the fish taste so nice which create opposite chemistry from the looks tbf. Curry is nice, fried omelette, crispy pork and everything worth to try. Value wise is perfect as the price point is not high which can for sharing to try much more menu in a sense. Hope you enjoy your meal here when visit Chiang Mai.
