A steakhouse in Grace's old dining room

The 6,000 square feet at 652 W Randolph sat empty for years after Grace, which held three Michelin stars, closed there. SuSu took over the space in March 2026, under owner Paul Alqas, managing partner Chase Meyer and executive chef Alexander Willis.

The kitchen calls its cooking MediterrAsian. In practice that means poached halibut with garbanzo beans in clam dashi, saffron lobster dumplings in Moroccan chilli bisque, and grilled octopus with potato mochi. The steak side stays conventional until the sauces show up: teriyaki demi and black tahini bearnaise for the A5 wagyu.

Great Mediterranean / Asian steakhouse. Excellent Wagyu steaks well prepared and served sliced to table with toppings which were great, but steak was even perfect without them. Very hip, somewhat comical front check in with hostess; but service was outstanding with very attentive and helpful waitstaff, really went out of their way for birthday celebration for wife. The cold mezze appetizers were good with spreads and hummus and Wagyu tartare, but the hot Mezze appetizers were even better and were served along with main courses as the servings were large enough to share. The lobster gyoza was unique and tasty, as well as the Ramen Cacio e Pepe, grilled prawns, etc. The desserts and presentations were amazing with flaming Baked Alaska & Chicolate Soufflé as well as the surprise birthday Mango Coconut Panna Cotta. Overall, really enjoyable great restaurant to celebrate at!

We will be back for sure! From the vibe, the music, the delicious food and amazing service - we overall had a phenomenal experience. Erik our waiter made great recommendations on things I wouldn’t even think to try. He was very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend the agnolotti, the rose love cake dessert and of course Erik as your server

We might have ordered too much🤣! Everything looks so delicious and interesting on the menu and we decided to indulge ourselves! The labneh tabat went extremely well with the soft and fluffy pita, caramelized onion, pickled ramp and fried leek balanced the tangy and thick labneh balls! The cabbage wedges salad had Gorgonzola, a bit too strong for me😳. But wagyu bacon nibs were savory and sweet. We ordered duo of lambs (belly and tenderloin) for entree, two different textures with generous portion and rich flavors. If there’s some room left for dessert, knafeh with grilled strawberries ice cream will be a brilliant choice!

Chef Alexander Willis is super talented. So many amazing flavors and textures. You can tell he and his chef team put a lot of thought and care into everything they do. Service was friendly, knowledgeable, and non-intrusive. Support staff was extremely helpful and detail oriented. Definitely a memorable experience. We’ll be back for sure!
