ABL Hollywood

Jamaican-Chinese cooking in a tiny red-lit room on Cahuenga.
The mother-and-daughter team behind A Beautiful Life opened ABL Hollywood in June 2026, taking over a former boba shop on Cahuenga. The space is small, lit red, and lined with velvet banquettes.
The menu is the reason to go: jerk chicken egg rolls, oxtail lo mein, curry fried rice. Jamaican-Chinese cooking has a long history on the island and almost no presence on LA menus.

Wow! 🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲 The oxtails and oysters were absolutely incredible. Well made and seasoned to perfection…You can truly taste the authentic Jamaican roots in every bite. My friend ordered the fish, and I only got one bite before it disappeared! 😄 Cozy spot, amazing food, and definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend! 🇯🇲

I enjoyed this place I understand the high end theme but I did leave feeling like ughhh we paid too much for that. We ordered two drinks two apps and I think one entree $200. If it was soo good I felt like it was worth it that would have been cool but it didn’t feel that way. Service was solid. Love the burgundy and the couches. Tables are small but that’s okay. 4 because I love black owned businesses. I would say for high end prices work on making it feel more high end.

1000% recommend anything oxtail! We had the lo mein and egg rolls and they were both amazing and even better the next day. The service was great, and really personable. The location fits about 20ppl so it’s a more intimate dining experience. Been recommending to friends and can’t wait to go back!

Tried ABL Hollywood and had a great experience. The oxtail was rich, tender, and seasoned really well, with deep flavor in the gravy that paired perfectly with the rice/ peas and veggies. The fried plantains were sweet, caramelized, and cooked just right! Crispy on the edges and soft in the middle. Overall, the food was flavorful, fresh, and satisfying. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving good food. I’ll be back!
