Aztec on Broadway

NE Broadway's taqueria is back, salsa nights and all
The camarones a la diabla tacos are what locals push newcomers toward, with the seafood ceviche right behind. This taqueria served Irvington for over two decades before it closed, and the new owners kept the recipes and the salsa dancing nights that made the original a neighborhood fixture.
It works just as well for happy hour as it does for dinner, and the bar keeps going well into the night.

Great menu with very large burritos. The pozoli was amazing! Great service too Update. We've been back at least 5 times in the past few weeks. This is becoming our favorite spot on Broadway for delicious food. The verde chicken tacos are so amazing. And the happy hour burger with fries for $10 can't be beat.

Very excited to see a neighborhood landmark reopen! Food was A+ great portions, nice staff, love being able to sit outside and people watch on Broadway. Didn’t love not being able to order the food at the same time ask drinks (had to do separately and walk over to the bar) but I’m sure they’re still figuring things out. Got the seasonal veggie bowl with shrimp and partner got the burrito with barbacoa - would recommend! Hoping things stay consistently good!

My visit was at night after 9:00 pm. Friendly service staff. Yummie food. Tables were not biased, and the floor was not swept during the 3 hours at the restaurant. The Salsa dancing was well attended. The cocktail menu has many options. The food menu has a variety of Latin food options.

So excited Aztec is back! The refresh, along with the new ownership, has truly revitalized the restaurant in the best way. Like any reopening, they’re still working through a few opening growing pains, so there might be a bit of a wait for your food—but trust me, it’s absolutely worth it. Every dish comes out flavorful and delicious. The chips are a standout—they’re fried fresh to order and perfectly crisp. They pair wonderfully with the trio of guac, queso, and salsa, it's so hard to choose which one to order. I highly recommend the barbacoa—it’s incredible. I also love the atmosphere. There’s a great community vibe, plenty of TVs in the bar area to catch a game, and the service is genuinely friendly. Aztec is off to a fantastic new chapter, and I can’t wait to keep coming back!
