St Johns has never had many destination restaurants. The menu shifts with whatever's available that week, so dinner here is never quite the same twice.

Honestly one of the best places we've ever eaten at. Fantastic service, all the staff was lovely and very personable. The food and drinks were out of this world. The cucumber salad was an absolute standout, and we will be dreaming about it for years to come.

After having this place recommended to me, I decided to make a reservation for my partner’s birthday about 2-3 weeks in advance. Unfortunately on the week of, they called to let me know they had to cancel that reservation. I completely understood the reasoning behind it, I get that life happens lol! I only bring this up to say I think they handled the situation very well after that. It feels like nowadays, most restaurants (and businesses in general) don’t care too much for the customer’s experience anymore. So it really stood out to me the way that Bar Nouveau treated us. They were extremely kind during the actual dinner, and the food was DELICIOUS. We chose to do the chef’s menu and it was so much food, we were completely stuffed by the end of it. I would come back everyday for the deviled eggs if only I lived closer! 😋 We cannot wait to come back again to try out the new menu. I feel that true good service is hard to find in Portland but they’ve got it locked down here lol. Overall everything felt very worth the pricing. Side note… visit the bathroom. The whole restaurant is perfectly decorated and the bathroom was not missed or spared! Trust, this place is too good to miss out on!

This was a charming little place in St John's. The food packed a punch, the service was thoughtful and informative without being intrusive. This is a place we will go back to again. Overall a wonderful experience

We've been to Bar Nouveau twice. Loved the welcome cocktail, such a nice touch! The food was fantastic, with their veggies and chicken liver mousse as our favorites! Amazing date spot, leave the kids at home please! Great music, decor, and even the bathroom is great!

We stayed in Portland for 3 nights and this was by far the best restaurant we dined at and it was actually one of the best meals I’ve ever had, even compared to places in San Francisco where I currently live. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was cooked to perfection and every element of every blended very well together. Portions were very generous for the price. I literally had the best deviled egg, chicken, and bouillabaisse I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back the next time I’m in town.
