Adelleda

A fully vegan pasta bar sharing a room with a cheese shop

Skip the substitute-menu vibe. Adelleda treats vegan pasta as its own cuisine, not a workaround, with fresh pasta dishes driving weeknight dinner and a second life as weekend brunch.

It shares its NE Grand Avenue room with Vtopian Artisan Cheeses, run by the same team, so grab a bowl of pasta and walk over to the counter for something from the cheese case.

Have you been craving mascarpone or gnocchi & thought you’d never have such again because of a dairy allergy or plant based diet? Today I thrilled my way, family style, through the brunch menu and the mocktails (with two carnivores, one a former chef, who so enjoyed the food and drinks they’re planning their return). Just scratched the surface of what Portland’s new Adelleda has to offer from both their Italian-inspired food and inventive beverage menus. The space is airy, very hip and comfortable set in a former bakery where they make and sell their own cheese. As someone with a dairy allergy the options are a dream. This is the kind of place you can keep coming back to for drinks, celebratory occasion or intimate repast because the food, drinks, setting, soundtrack, and the vibe conspire.

We came down from Seattle to try Adelleda and it did not disappoint. Service was wonderful, atmosphere was pleasant and food was outstanding. A must visit spot even if you are not plant based. They also make and sell their cheese!!

Adellada is that rare place that evokes both nostalgia and novelty. The service is warm and attentive, like being hosted amongst great friends. The ambience is modern and classic. The food is familiar and phenomenal. My wife and I ordered the cheese plate for two, the smoked apricot salad, the fusilli and rigatoni. I opted to add porcini mushrooms and tempeh to my rigatoni, which I’d highly recommend. Every dish was extraordinary. The smoked apricot salad was tangy with a hint of mesquite. The cheese plate was eclectic, decadent, and ample. Additionally, my rigatoni was cooked al dente, with a bright pesto, toasted pine nuts, succulent mushrooms, tempeh, and vegetables. Finally, our server, Matt, was funny, ingratiating, and really responsive. It was the best service and meal we’ve had in a long time, probably since our last visit to Plum Bistro. Portland has some great vegan restaurants, count this among the best.

Adelleda was wonderful! The atmosphere is gorgeous, service was amazing, and the food was so delicious. The portions were pretty large too. The cheese plate & the kale salad were my favorites. Can’t wait to try brunch ❤️

Vtopian has been established as one of the best vegan cheeses around for quite a while. But now they have opened an excellent space to sit and enjoy wonderful plant-based food in Adelleda. The decor is hip with a vintage flair and spacious with two walls of glass thanks to their corner location. We had the Ruben-esque beet sandwich and the Mac & cheese. Both were excellent.
