Gabe Rubin's first brick-and-mortar, on Garnet

Mission Bagel opened in Pacific Beach in August 2025 at 1344 Garnet Avenue, in the old Friendly space. Gabe Rubin came from Cincinnati ten years earlier and only started baking bagels seriously when the pandemic pushed everyone into their kitchens.

It landed in the middle of San Diego's bagel run, alongside Marigold in North Park and PopUp in La Jolla. Rubin's are on the chewy end. Sold out by early afternoon most days.
