Yemeni mandi on Valencia Street, open since May 2026

Mandi House opened at 680 Valencia in May 2026. It serves mandi, the Yemeni dish of slow-cooked meat over spiced rice, built for one platter shared across the table. Portions hold up whether you show up alone or with six people.

Yemeni food has spread fast through American cities the last few years, mostly via coffee houses. This is one of the first sit-down Yemeni kitchens on this side of the Mission, between 18th and 19th, right in the busiest run of Valencia.

While visiting the Bay Area from Chicago, we decided to give Mandi House Yemeni Restaurant a try, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! We originally came for dinner and ordered the Fish Mova, Lamb Haneeth, and Madhbi Grilled Lamb. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The lamb was unbelievably tender, the fish was fresh and smoky, and the rice was aromatic and delicious. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next morning for breakfast! Breakfast did not disappoint. We ordered the Shakshooka, Yemeni Foul, and Masoob Fatta, and every dish was outstanding. The Masoob Fatta was rich, comforting, and unlike anything we’ve had before. The Yemeni Foul was full of bold flavors, and the Shakshooka was perfectly spiced and hearty. To top it all off, the Karak tea was absolutely amazing—the perfect ending to an incredible meal. The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance, and the décor is beautiful, creating an authentic Yemeni dining experience. A special thank you to our waitress, Aya, who provided exceptional service during our first visit. She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. Her recommendations and hospitality made our experience even better. If you’re in the Bay Area and looking for authentic Yemeni cuisine, this place is a must-visit. We rarely return to the same restaurant while traveling, but this place was so good we came back twice in less than 24 hours. That’s about the highest compliment we can give! We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in the Bay Area.

Mandi House is an amazing addition to San Francisco's food scene. It's hard to believe they've only been open for about a month because everything feels thoughtfully designed, well-organized, and welcoming from the moment you walk in. The first thing that caught my attention was the architecture and interior design. The restaurant feels less like a typical dining spot and more like a museum celebrating Yemeni culture and heritage. Every detail has been carefully curated, creating a beautiful and immersive atmosphere. There's even an upstairs dining area that's worth checking out. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend arriving before 6 PM. Despite having a large amount of seating, the restaurant was still packed, which speaks volumes about how popular it's already become. We ordered the Lamb Mandi, Chicken Mandi, Hrada of Fahsah, samosa bites, and tea. Every dish was excellent. The chicken mandi was incredibly juicy and packed with flavor, while the lamb mandi was so tender it practically fell off the bone. Yemeni cuisine truly knows how to showcase lamb at its best. Due to the high demand, they're currently limiting tables to one lamb mandi and one chicken mandi, which only confirms how sought-after these dishes are. The standout dish for me was the Hrada of Fahsah. This rich, bubbling stone-pot dish combines shredded lamb and beef with whipped fenugreek to create a deeply flavorful and comforting stew. It arrived sizzling hot and was worth every bite. The samosa bites were a great starter, crispy and satisfying, and we finished the meal with traditional tea that was the perfect ending to an already fantastic dining experience. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable throughout our visit. One feature I really appreciated was the table buzzer system—simply press the button when you need something and a staff member quickly comes by to assist. It's an efficient touch that makes the dining experience smooth without feeling intrusive. From the authentic flavors and generous portions to the stunning ambiance and outstanding hospitality, Mandi House delivers a memorable experience from start to finish. It's exciting to see a restaurant bring this level of Yemeni culture, cuisine, and hospitality to San Francisco. Highly recommend Mandi House to anyone looking for authentic Yemeni food, beautiful surroundings, and exceptional service. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in San Francisco.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandi House in San Francisco, and it was one of the best Middle Eastern experiences I’ve had in the Bay Area. From the moment we walked in, we loved the warm ambiance, beautiful decor, and cozy atmosphere that made the restaurant feel both elegant and welcoming. We started with the beef samosas, which were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The hummus was incredibly fresh and creamy, served with warm bread that paired beautifully with every bite. For our main course, we ordered the Chicken Mandi, and it truly stole the show. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of authentic Yemeni flavors, while the fragrant rice was cooked perfectly and packed with spices that made every bite delicious. To finish the meal, we enjoyed their traditional tea and assorted sweets. The tea was comforting and aromatic, and the selection of baklava and desserts was fresh, flaky, and not overly sweet the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and creates an authentic dining experience that makes you want to stay and relax. If you’re looking for authentic Yemeni food in San Francisco, delicious Chicken Mandi, fresh hummus, amazing desserts, and outstanding hospitality, I highly recommend Mandi House. It’s easily one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in San Francisco, and I can’t wait to come back.

This place was a pleasant surprise. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, and the service was some of the best we’ve had in a long time. We ordered the Fahsa, Harada Shrimp, Lamb Soup, Lamb Liver, Lamb Mandi, and tea, and honestly, everything was delicious. The Fahsa was rich and flavorful, the lamb mandi was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the lamb soup was packed with flavor. The Harada Shrimp was one of our favorites, and even the tea was spot on. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. Omar at the cashier was welcoming from the moment we walked in, and Mohammed, our server, was amazing. He checked on us often, made great gestures, and genuinely seemed to care that we enjoyed our meal. Service like that is hard to find these days. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and feels comfortable without being overly fancy. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a good meal and actually relax. We’ll definitely be coming back. If you’re looking for authentic food, generous portions, and people who truly care about their customers, this place is worth a visit.

Went to this place for dinner during my day in San Francisco. The place got really a cool vibe and ambience. I ordered chicken Mandi and lamb Hannet. The food was served at a very good temperate. The taste is good a well. The meat was juicy and tender. Definitely will try again.
