Gordo Steak

Carne asada from the Asadero family, Pioneer Square edition
Gordo Steak opened on Occidental Ave S in April 2026, from the Asadero people. Carne asada in several forms, tacos, snacks, sides.
The space is snug and the reputation arrived before it did, so expect a wait at peak. Lunch is calmer than dinner.

Coming from a Latino background (Cuban and Mexican), carne asadas have always been a huge part of life for both my wife and me. So when I say this, know it's rooted in decades of experience and hundreds of carne asadas between the two of us: This is the BEST carne asada I have ever had. Handmade tortillas set the stage for beautifully seasoned meats, delicious salsa and guacamole, and incredible bone marrow. Even the little cebollitas were perfectly cooked. You can tell this place has a deep appreciation and respect for carne asada and the craft behind it. If you're a fan of Latin food—and especially carne asada—run here. We'll be back often.

OMG this meat is soooooo good!!! New carne asada steakhouse that opened up in Pioneer Square. They have a very limited menu due to FIFA games and crazy crowds so only tacos today. But wow! The meat is buttery and tender, I only got the regular carne asada $5.99 (wagyu or ribeye $9.99). And the house made corn tortillas are thin!!! They even bring out a board of garnish to choose for your water (cucumber, lemon, orange, mint) and free salad on request. I can’t wait to come back and try their steak platter. Wow! I’m seriously impressed by a simple taco and the detail of the accompaniments.

I visited Gordo Steak and was impressed by the quality of the food. The combination of meat cuts and authentic Mexican flavor was simply delicious; every bite was an explosion of flavors that transported me to Mexico. The service was also exceptional. The cooks were very friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, this is the first restaurant I’ve given 5 stars. I will definitely be back to enjoy another delicious meal. Highly recommended!

Gordo Steak was for sure a fun meal with friends, but I could feel the growing pains of it being a newer restaurant in the area. First, the menu is of course a beef forward menu but I was surprised to find that the main non-beef option is literally a bowl of mushrooms and some tortillas. Maybe a simple fish taco instead? Maybe dicing the mushrooms at least? Next, the citrus options for our water and the side salad when we sat down are nice additions but again, very odd for the setting and not what any of us expected. Service was overall fine, but I didn't get the vibe the staff really understood the menu (couldn't help much with recommendations.) Steak was also fine overall but I will say the queso and tortillas were phenomenal for Seattle. Would come back just for them. Drinks were quite fun and hilariously large. I'm excited to try it again in a few months after it has time to mature and see what sticks and what doesn't for their intended restaurant experience.

This was our first time dining here and it was amazing! The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy and the service is amazing! Everyone was super nice and friendly and just made the whole thing feel very nice. The food was PERFECT! We got the arrachera skirt steak, with a side of papas bravas and it was delicious! Definitely recommend this dish. They come with freshly made tortillas and it was all just perfect. I definitely recommend this place!! And we will be coming back for sure. 10/10 all around.
