Angolan cooking in the CID

Queen Nzinga opened on S King St in February 2026, one of very few Angolan restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. Grilled mackerel, calulu, chicken under a garlicky mayo sauce.

The room is big, with booths built for sharing yam fufu. Takeout is available but the point is the table.

Pretty good food. It is true that the chicken has a lot of bones, but other than that everything is perfect.

The food was really good plus very friendly service. First time trying authentic Angolan food, highly recommend.

We ordered the grilled goat and it got the 2 of us super full pregnant đŸ«ƒđŸ» Gotta be careful for the bones and the flavors were amazing. Will be def coming back to try more dishes.

This place is weird. Half of the building is nice and new, and when you go in the back to use the bathroom it’s like it’s under construction. The service is slow. But the food and atmosphere are good. I wouldn’t go back.
