District 1's InterContinental just became Saigon's first JW Marriott
Saigon's InterContinental switched flags overnight. On September 10, 2024, the corner of Hai Ba Trung and Le Duan reopened as the JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon, the brand's first property in Ho Chi Minh City. Hanoi got its JW Marriott back in 2013; the south waited eleven more years.
The hotel holds 305 rooms and suites in the Kumho Asiana Plaza tower, a short walk from Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. A phased renovation started in early 2025 while the hotel keeps running. Right now it's less a finished product than a conversion story still playing out on one of District 1's best corners.
Good to know
- The location at Hai Ba Trung and Le Duan puts Notre-Dame Cathedral, the post office and Diamond Plaza within a five-minute walk.
- A phased renovation has been running since the rebrand, so newer room categories vary; ask what's been refreshed when you book.

This is one of my favorite hotels in Ho Chi Minh. Conveniently located near all the shops and cafes. The service is hands down the best, super friendly staff and certainly very informative and helpful. From my stays in multiple trips, I got to connect with the amazing staff at the hotel. From the bellmen (Xuan, Tin, Huy & Khang) to the front desk (Trang, Kiem, Hung & Van) to my favorite star Tommy at the Concierge! Tommy was very helpful in recommending restaurants and helping us book reservations at the pickleball courts. We stayed at both the hotel side and the apartment side. Both were very spacious and clean, with nice views of the city. The breakfast was amazing! They had western and eastern dishes so everyone was happy. The best coffee and pho can be found here!

My friends' family and I stayed in April, 2026 and we were very happy there! When we were about to check out, the front desk staff gave us a pack of snacks from the desk, which the kids loved. It was such a warm, touching gesture and we were very moved. Even though it was a short stay, the kind gesture made the memory even sweeter. This review is a bit late though, thank you all!

Truly enjoyed our stay in the hotel over the weekend. Start from the lobby with the fresh flower and friendly lobby staff. The room is clean and well maintained and they even extend small touches by putting a bookmark during turn down service on top of my book. We also went for the executive floor and special shout out to Thomas for his exceptional service. Overall a great quick staycation!

Had an amazing evening at Nikura restaurant on May 28th. Thank you to the entire Nikura team for their warm hospitality and excellent support throughout the event. Special thanks to Ms. Pinky for her outstanding coordination and to Chef Ivan for the fantastic Japanese-Peruvian menu. Our guests absolutely loved it. Also, thank you to Mr. Duong - LP department for assisting us with the load-in and load-out of our setup. Great food, great service, and a very professional team. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Nikura for private dinners and events 🤗
