Japanese-leaning vegetarian cooking in a Tân Định villa
Cela sits on the same quiet stretch of Nguyen Thanh Y as Tales by Chapter, and both places take vegetables just as seriously. The kitchen works in a Japanese register: dashi built without fish, pickles cut fine, plates that leave a lot of space. Nothing here tries to imitate meat.
It's a small room, so lunch is the easier booking. Order the set menu rather than going à la carte. That's where the kitchen's timing really shows.

Absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. It’s hard to believe the dishes are vegetarian because every meal was so satisfying and well-prepared. Loved the chawanmushi the most. The taco can feel a bit heavy if eaten by itself. The restaurant has a cozy, peaceful atmosphere, and the staff were warm, attentive and accomodate my allergy. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing vegetarian food. I’ll definitely be coming back to try the set menu!

We enjoyed so much of the idea, food, service and atmosphere. Delicate way to show the flavour of vegetarian cuisine. Thank you team for putting your passion into the space and food.

One of the best creative vegetarian spots by far in HCMC Food 1.7 🌟 Some dishes from my first visit are no longer available but def glad I got to try them Bơ Nến aka Butter Candlestick 10/10 Thought this would be a meh choice, but it turned out to be quite satisfying with the buttery truffle on the palate. We definitely cleaned the plate, no butter left behind 😆 Chawanmushi 1000/10 An absolute MUST-HAVE before mains The umami level in this dish is above and beyond, plus the pleasing silky texture. My Viet palate absolutely adore and appreciate this dish very much. Agedashi Tofu 8/10 Have it while it's warm Crispy outside, soft inside, with light flavour sauce Mapo Tofu 9/10 🤤 Very nice texture and packed with flavor (yes, with a kick 🌶) for every spoonful mix with 🍚 Poee Bread 7/10 Creative and interesting spread with bread, should try for Cela's first-timer Tacos 7/10 Mixed opinions on different flavours. Though, texture is nice (crunchy tacos) and overall, very flavorful fillings Service 1.0 🌟 Friendly and attentive staff Price 1.0 🌟 Price matches quality and quantity 350k/pax for 7 dishes and 2 drinks First visit was during an event and it was absolutely worth it. Environment 1.0 🌟 Spacious and nice atmosphere with modern decor, and cool open kitchen at the lower level Overall 4.7 🌟 Will come back more often to enjoy my monthly dose of vegetarian food 😋

tasty modern and creative take on vegetarian food. very solid and seasoned fine. my favs were the tacos (esp the deep fried nori one), the eggplant, and beet salad. the simple tomato tea appetizer was quite lovely as well. it’s kind of a quiet romantic atmosphere in the dining area. cute place. a little on the pricier side for the small portion size, though.

We spontaneously walked into CELA on our last evening because the dishes on Google looked absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the restaurant was fully booked, and they kindly said, “See you tomorrow?” We explained that we were flying home that night, but hopefully we’d come back another time. Right away, they made an effort and asked us to wait a moment. After just five minutes, they managed to arrange a table for us, and we were able to enjoy dinner at CELA. The entire team was incredibly kind, enthusiastic and welcoming. The food was amazing! truly a 10/10 experience. We even got this amazing syrup to enjoy at home 🤩 I would highly recommend CELA to everyone!
