All-day bistro plates on a Thảo Điền side street

Come for a laptop morning, stay for a bottle of wine by nine. Livannah works either way, which is exactly what this corner of Thảo Điền was missing. The menu drifts between European plates and Vietnamese ingredients without making a thing of it.

There's a smaller second site on Nguyen Sieu in District 1 for anyone downtown, but the Thảo Điền room is the one worth sitting in.

Great small Eatery. Their food and drinks menus are great. We tried a few dishes and consistently tasty. We were so surprised to find ants on our food... Until we asked and were told that was the specialty of the place: ant sauce. I must say it was quite tasty and didn't feel like we were eating ants! Haha Definitely a special dinner. Highlight were: chicken wing skewer, okra bacon skewers, beef steak and brocoli. Atmosphere is very charming in a quiet back street of Thao Dien. It's mostly outdoor dining but did not feel inconvenience from mosquitos.

The food was modern, with good flavors. The service was amazing as well. I can totally see why it's very popular with the young people these days!! If you book, definitely book the bar area, you can watch the chef do the magic.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Livannah D2 owned by Chef Sakal, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a great evening. The lighting was just right—soft and cozy—complemented by tasteful decor and a relaxed yet stylish vibe. Whether you’re out for a casual dinner or a special occasion, this place strikes the perfect balance between comfort and sophistication. Along with the concept of an open kitchen, you get the front row seat of the kitchen while they creating the dishes. The staffs was probably the highlight of my entire experience, both the kitchen and service has my gratitude for the wonderful evening. Highly recommend!!!

The menu at Livannah looked like an interesting fusion of Asian and Mexican flavors, so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the prawn maki, nori tacos with chicken, banh khot, pho cuon with Wagyu, and garlic fried rice with Unagi. While most of the food was good enough, I wouldn't say any of it really wowed me. The broth the pho cuon rolls came in was good, but the actual rolls didn't have much flavor inside (mostly just carrot). The fried rice was a bit dry. The sauce (eel?) on several of the dishes all seemed very similar. The ambience was mostly okay, aside from the loud popping every time a mosquito flew into the zapper (better than getting bit, I suppose). I think maybe if you're coming here to have drinks, and some snacks alongside the drinks, your experience will be a lot better. But for just dinner and no drinks, there may be better options around.

We came here for a post–New Year gathering with friends, but this little hidden spot in Thao Dien honestly knocked us all out — quite a first hit for the Year of the Horse 2026 🥲🐎 We ordered quite a bit: the salmon salad was fresh and light, the maki prawn and maki salmon were tasty but fairly standard, and both the tuna tacos and salmon tacos were enjoyable without being particularly memorable. The Cambodian beef skewer was nicely seasoned, the chicken thigh skewer juicy and reliable, and the shiitake skewer earthy and flavorful. Even the baked camembert was warm and comforting, though nothing truly stood out 🍣🍢🧀 Overall, everything was good, but not in a way that justifies the price. Most of these dishes can easily be found at other izakayas for less, so coming here specifically for the food doesn’t feel very worthwhile 💸 I’d say this place works better as a late-night drinks spot — somewhere to sit with friends, have a few cocktails, and share a small skewer or two 🍶✨ But if you come here hungry expecting a full dinner, it’s probably not the best choice. 📍 Livannah - Sips & Bites: 12 Nguyễn Ư Dĩ 💵 1,337,000 VND/ 4pax #izakayastyle #japanesefusion #nightoutwithfriends #latenightbites#夜飲み
