Piccolina Filmbar: inviting outdoor seating area shown

Piccolina Filmbar

An Italian day bar inside the Austrian Film Museum, back after a two-year pause

Piccolina Filmbar reopened inside the Austrian Film Museum on Augustinerstraße in July 2026, after a two-year gap since the space last ran as a bar. Restaurateur Manfred Stallmajer, who also runs the brasserie at The Guesthouse across the street, developed the new concept together with the Film Museum: a classic Italian aperitivo day-bar, open from morning to midnight.

The menu tracks an Italian day through espresso and cornetto in the morning to an aperitivo of Franciacorta, Campari, or Select later on, with tramezzini, antipasti, and focaccia in between. The interior mixes terrazzo, marble, and wood with hand-painted walls inside Hans Hollein's landmarked building, and the outdoor seating looks straight across at the Albertina.

These restaurants and public spaces should have more power outlets or mobile chargers available. It would be really helpful. Other than that, a very nice space.

Stopped here for a drink on our walk around Wien city centre. The spritzers were fantastic and service pleasant.
