A Parisian-style cocktail bar in the Innere Stadt, mixed by Jakob Trummer, son of famed New York barkeep Albert Trummer

Le Fou opened on Freisingergasse in December 2025, set into Vienna's first district behind a discreet façade. The bar is the project of entrepreneur Alexander Schrack, who worked with architect Theresa Obermoser and TO Design Studio on a room modeled on Parisian grandeur: deep colors, brass fittings, a theatrical sense of excess.

Behind the bar is Jakob Trummer, son of Albert Trummer, the Viennese-born bartender who built a reputation at the New York bar Apotheke. Trummer mixes classic cocktails alongside francophile signatures, backed by an extensive champagne list, open Monday to Saturday from 4pm.

The place is wonderful and classic Victorian, the service is excellent, and there are both indoor and outdoor seating areas. Yes, I would return more than once.

I visited Le Fou with a group of friends, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of cocktail bar where you can spend hours talking without noticing the time. The first thing that caught my attention was the interior. Deep burgundy velvet, dark red tones, warm lighting, greenery, and comfortable seating create a very cozy atmosphere. The design feels elegant without being pretentious. There is something theatrical and slightly old-fashioned about it, yet at the same time it feels modern and welcoming. It is definitely one of those places worth visiting for the interior alone. We came primarily to meet friends and enjoy a few cocktails, and the setting was perfect for that. The music was at a comfortable volume, allowing conversation, and the overall atmosphere encouraged people to relax and stay longer. The cocktails were well prepared and beautifully presented. The menu offered enough variety to keep everyone in our group happy, from classic choices to more creative combinations. What I liked most was the feeling of comfort. Some cocktail bars focus so much on being trendy that they forget about hospitality. Le Fou manages to combine style with warmth, making guests feel at ease. If you are looking for a place for a relaxed evening with friends, good cocktails, and one of the most interesting interiors in Vienna, I would definitely recommend Le Fou.

The bar used to be mediocre, but the new bar manager aydin really turned the place around. Now it's one of the best bars in Vienna. Definitely will be back.

Been to this place recently, can highly recommend. Great drinks and friendly stuff. Also the atmosphere is amazing, good choice for a night out with friends or a date. Will definitely come again.
