The whisky bar whose opening day was the fire itself

The day The Maligne Range was scheduled to open, the 2024 wildfire swept through Jasper and shut the whole town down instead. It finally opened two months later. The menu runs smoked West Coast salmon, pork belly and Alberta beef brisket alongside its own small-batch Canadian malt whisky.

The distillery keeps releasing new whiskies, including one named for Watchtower Mountain. Staff still tell new guests about the fire that delayed the bar it later helped the town recover from.
