Tokyo's Kabukicho nightlife district, reimagined on Jægergårdsgade
The crew behind KAZO Izakaya opened Kabuki on March 29, 2025, right on the corner of Jægergårdsgade and Helgolandsgade in Frederiksbjerg. The name and the energy come from Kabukicho, Tokyo's dense entertainment district, not from the quiet, traditional izakaya playbook.
The menu leans into Japanese street food, with a handful of signature plates built to survive a few rounds of drinks. Their Japanese take on the beef sandwich has become one of the most ordered dishes. Homemade cocktails and sake run the bar, and the room stays loud and lit for late nights rather than early dinners.

Got the notification about the 50% discount offer on the Kabuki brunch, and decided to try it right on that weekend. And what a wonderful and delicious decision I made. It was a totally different brunch experience from the usual one with croissants, eggs Benedict on toast, and all those things. The brunch at Kabuki is filled with a lot of rich flavours, and even though they come in small portions, the amount of it is enough to leave you well-satisfied after finishing it. The most notorious ones for me were the smoked fish, the poached egg, and the green tea yogurt. I will definitely come, even if it’s now without the discount offer!
