Valamini

★ 4.8 · 26 reviews Budapest Opened March 2024

Budapest's self-proclaimed tiniest design shop, and it might be right

Twenty minutes before your flight and nothing Hungarian in your bag? This is the fix. Valamini calls itself the tiniest design shop in Budapest, and standing inside it, you won't argue. It's the third project from the person behind Valami Hazai and Valami Produktív, squeezed into a few square meters near the Astoria junction.

The shelves hold art prints, postcards, ceramics, books, jewelry and small sculptures, most made in small runs by named local designers. It's the anti-Váci utca: same price range as the tourist-strip souvenirs a few blocks over, but here someone Hungarian actually made the thing, and would want it too.

Good to know

  • It really is tiny, good for a quick, well-chosen gift near Astoria rather than a long browse.
  • Closed Sundays; weekdays it opens at noon.

Really cute little shop, and the sales assistant is very friendly. Prices are reasonable, unlike many other similar shops. Hungarian designers. Ceramic designs, squares, pendants... really cute.

I've been wanting to take part in a screen printing workshop for a long time! After a little theoretical & technological brainstorming and a short introduction, we were able to start designing our own pattern. You can meet my blood rabbit tattoo, which I'm currently on! :D It turned out to be a unique piece.

It's like a small island in the chaos of Pest, time passes differently here, as if you were hiking in nature. If you have the opportunity and are attracted to handmade objects, there will definitely be something here that touches you.

Had a really good time when i visited the shop. While i was there the vendor could answer all my questions, and made me feel welcomed. I recommend this shop to everyone, there is a little something for everyone there.
