A jazz kissa hiding behind an unmarked door

Manav Dangg of Studio Dangg built this room for listening first, drinking second, taking the cue from Tokyo's jazz kissas. Warm wood, textured mirrors and cobbled walls washed in red set the mood. Vinyl lines the space and the sound system isn't decorative.

Cocktails lean on Japanese technique: yuzu, miso butter-washed scotch, wasabi-washed rum, grape brine. The Track series works clarified coconut milk with basil or mango. Food, think edamame hummus and chicken karaage, stays out of the way on purpose. Vasant Vihar is Delhi's speakeasy strip now, and this is the strongest case for it.
