BREAD, ESPRESSO & Ximen

★ 4.1 · 565 reviews Taipei Opened 2025

Tokyo's favorite bakery-cafe lands near Ximen

The Mou bread is why this Omotesando import already has a queue on the west side. Order the Mou-based brunch set and pay attention to whatever butter they're pushing that month. It changes, and it's worth chasing.

Plating, service and pacing all feel lifted straight from Tokyo. Go on a weekday if you want a table without the wait.

Cafe with chill vibes with great bakes and mains. The food I ordered was all very well done. Staff will take the time to explain about the menu and subsequently about the dish when serving. It will be better if you make a reservation since seats are limited inside.

Menu and options are confusing and restricted. But Lucia was extremely helpful and friendly. Great Desert and bread.

Easily one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in our travels. The Mou French toast was incredible. Light and fluffy with a crisp exterior and a soft, almost custardy center. We ordered the Mou matcha skillet French toast, the Mou French toast with bacon, a pumpkin latte, and a classic latte, and everything was excellent. The matcha French toast was rich but not overly sweet, and the pumpkin latte had a warm, spiced flavor that paired perfectly with brunch. The staff were kind and attentive, and the café has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere that makes it a great brunch spot in Ximending. It does get busy, so arrive early if you want a seat. They also have takeaway options, which we didn’t try, but looked delicious. Highly recommend Bread, Espresso & if you’re looking for a fantastic breakfast or coffee in Taipei. We’ll definitely be back.

Relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for a slow morning before traversing the city. Our server, Lucia, was hands on and spoke good English. Meal portions are big and food tasted great.

Superb lunch with seemingly minor but hard downside Super easy to access, Bread Espresso is right across the exit 3 of the Ximen MRT station in Taipei. Not a single complaint about the culinary quality and the speed of service. The French toast with the bacon and sunny-side up egg was tasty. But I think some customers used to local prices may feel the NT$1,331 bill for the items shown, including the salmon and avocado croissant sandwich, a tad expensive. In addition I think the place lacks sufficient comfort factor with wooden seating. A few cushions to pad bottoms and backsides would enhance the dining experience for sure.
