A Showa-era yoshoku diner, dropped onto Chifeng Street

Warm lamps, dark wood, curry rice and cream sodas: Inamachiya looks like it's been on Chifeng Street since the 1960s. It hasn't. People were lining up before the place even had a Google listing.

This stretch of Taipei has turned into a retro corridor, and Inamachiya is the most convincing time capsule on it. Go off-peak for a booth seat and time to actually linger over the gratin.
