French bistro cooking off Naradhiwas, run by Wilfrid Hocquet

No theatre, no tweezer plating, just a French bistro doing the classics right. Chef Wilfrid Hocquet runs the kitchen on a side lane off Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, and both Friday Bangkok and BK Magazine flagged it as one of the year's best openings.

It's a tiny room, so book the evening slot a week out. Tell your taxi driver the soi number, not the name, or you'll circle the block.

Margo was, without a doubt, our favorite meal in Bangkok. From the first course to the last, every dish impressed us with both its presentation and, more importantly, its flavor. Beautifully plated food is easy to find, but at Margo the taste always lived up to the presentation. The menu felt thoughtful and well balanced, with each course bringing something different while still flowing naturally as a complete experience. Every dish showcased excellent ingredients and confident execution without ever feeling overcomplicated. The service was equally impressive—warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience. The team made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Margo was the standout restaurant of our trip to Bangkok. If you’re looking for a place where creativity, flavor, and hospitality all come together, this is one I can’t recommend highly enough.

Love love love Margo! 10/10 for both the food and the creativity. The food has multiple layers of flavor, with each dish tasting incredibly good. The menu is a bit limited. It would be great to see more options for the mains. The service is excellent and everyone is incredibly friendly! 🚘There's plenty of parking opposite the restaurant (search Margo Car Park on Google Maps). However, make sure you park in the correct car park as there's another one nearby with a similar location. If you park in the wrong one, the restaurant won't be able to cover your parking fee.

We had dinner at Margo this evening and overall enjoyed the experience. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Spicy Crab Paccheri. The pasta was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, with generous pieces of crab in a rich tomato and vodka sauce that had just the right amount of warmth. It was the standout dish of the evening and one I would happily order again. For the main course, we shared the Kurobuta Pork Chop. The flavour was very good and the meat itself was tender, but we found it to be considerably fattier than expected, which detracted somewhat from our enjoyment. The needle green beans were excellent – cooked al dente, fresh, and full of flavour. In contrast, the black truffle mashed potatoes were a little disappointing. The purée was rather runny, and the truffle flavour was overwhelmingly strong, overpowering the dish instead of complementing it. The glass of M. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes du Rhône paired nicely with the meal and was very enjoyable. Service throughout the evening was pleasant and professional. However, one small detail prevented it from being exceptional: despite the restaurant not being overly busy, nobody came to the table to carry out a quality check after the dishes had been served. A simple “How is everything?” would have been appreciated. Overall, Margo offers some very memorable dishes in an attractive setting. The crab pasta alone is worth returning for, although a few refinements in execution and attentiveness would elevate the experience even further.

Margo is definitely one of the more beautiful new dining rooms in Bangkok. The space feels warm and stylish without trying too hard, and the overall atmosphere is lively and energetic. Service was excellent throughout the night - attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Their wine list is also very well curated and pairs nicely with the menu. Parking is convenient as well, with a lot available opposite the restaurant. As for the food, you can immediately tell the ingredients and execution are high quality. Everything felt carefully prepared and technically well done. That said, the flavor profiles personally didn’t fully work for me. Some dishes leaned quite salty, while others felt a bit too rich or heavy after a few bites. It’s not that the food was bad at all - I can absolutely understand why many people enjoy it - but I just didn’t fully connect with the style of cooking or balance of flavors. The open kitchen adds energy to the room, though during my visit it also became fairly loud at times, which slightly affected the dining experience.

Yummy — every dish was perfectly cooked, especially the spaghetti and flat iron steak. The desserts were also delicious. Service was great with very attentive waitresses. Free parking nearby and the prices were reasonable. And they are pet friendly! Highly recommend.
