A 1926 office block turned 71-room hotel downtown

The building did the hard work here. Eight storeys of 1926 office block at the wedge of Battery Park and Wall Street, restored over five years through a pandemic pause into a 71-room hotel, original elevator and lobby detailing intact.

Downstairs, Luminosa pulls in as many locals as guests, and the rooftop bar looks past the downtown grid to the mountains. Rooms run small, the way 1920s office floors do. The building is the point.

Good to know

• The restored 1926 elevator still runs - it's original to the building.
• Luminosa, the ground-floor restaurant, holds a Michelin distinction and books up separately from the hotel.
