Filipino food that outgrew its first room

Kultura got so busy it had to move. The Filipino spot now fills a bigger space on Rutledge Avenue, big enough to match the following it built in its original, smaller room. Eater put the move on its list of Charleston's best new restaurants, treating it like a fresh opening.

It now shares the building with Nook Tiny Café and Market, which opened the same day. Two concepts, one move, one address.

I love Kultura and bring everyone I know out to eat here! The food is incredible! The rice porridge is my absolute favorite, it’s perfect in every way! You could get any dish on the menu and it would change your life! That’s how good the food, the people (Chef Nikki is awesome) and the atmosphere is at Kultura!

We came here on Sunday for early dinner thru Resy reservation app. The place of this restaurant was the at the now closed Little Sage restaurant. The decor very inviting and it has moderate noise level. We ordered arroz valid which was my favorite dish so far, pancit sisig with a different type of noodle than the regular skinny pancit rice noodle that I know which kinda throw me off, curry snapper that was good, lumpia, Laing, and the holy city salawat plus the new drink tennis were so delish! I would definitely coming back to Kultura for

My wife and I had a lovely experience at Kultura last night! Our waiter was warm and welcoming. She continued to be delightful even as the night got busier. We started out with 4 appetizers: the Lumpia, Kinilaw, Pugita, and Hipon. All delicious. Chef Nikko has a masterful touch with sauces. Every element of each appetizer was elevated by their accompanying sauces. We then shared a main, the Grilled Salmon Fillet Curry. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender and delicately flaky. And like the other dishes we had, it was elevated by the delicious sauce, a creamy, well-balanced coconut curry. This sauce was my personal favorite - I loved mixing it with accompanying white rice topped with a piece of salmon... a perfect bite! Lastly, we got the Halo Halo for dessert. Chef Nikko explained to us how to enjoy this popular Filipino dessert. We poured the ube milk over the shaved ice and mixed it with the rest of the ingredients. A real treat to end the night! Thanks to the whole staff who made our night so enjoyable.

Wonderful ambiance and delicious food. The food is served family style and there was plenty to share. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The noise level is fairly high but we were able to have a conversation. The music is fun and the disco lights in the bathroom are a great touch.

first of all…everything we had was not just good but lick the plate good. Green curry mussels, red curry snapper, lumpia and scallops….i could cry. second of all, service was warm, candid and we felt completely taken care of. You can tell by the food & the service that everyone takes tremendous pride in what they do. I’d go back with a group and order everything on the menu! Don’t sleep on the cocktails or the house sorbet. They do not miss. Thank you chef Nikko.
