Italian on Morrison Drive, from a Nashville name
Pelato is one of the reasons Morrison Drive has turned into Charleston's newer restaurant strip, further up the peninsula than the old tourist core. A Nashville restaurateur brought the Italian menu here in 2025, betting on a neighborhood still filling in.
It's an easy pick if you're exploring past the historic district and want a plate of pasta without the downtown crowds.

Pelato is a Charleston gem. The shared food plates were all so delicious and the frozen espresso martinis were a group favorite. The best part of our night was our server DJ! He made our experience an unforgettable one. He provided us with great recommendations (and lots of laughs!)

Perfect! We were a little late but they were understanding after a quick phone call, even though it was a busy Friday evening. They did everything possible to make a birthday special. Our server Max was spot on with recommendations. It is noisy! Might try the patio next time if the weather is good. Thank you!

Dalton (waiter) was great, but the entire staff was attentive and helpful. They accommodated some picky children, and management came to discuss our experience with us. Food was great; Radiatori Vodka was the best thing we had, baked ziti was great too, espresso old fashioned is a must try.

We came as a party of four on Monday at 7 P.M. with a reservation and nearly cancelled our next upscale restaurant reservation to come back to this family-style Italian restaurant! Our server Caleb was humorous, the assumed manager Cheyenne was very friendly and made sure our experience was enjoyable and other staff members were so kind and attentive. The food was very good, and we ordered quite a bit. Caleb explained to us that 2 plates are recommended per person and we ended up having quite a lot. The highlights of our buffet were the Radiatori Vodka, Crispy Cheese Calzone and for dessert, my personal favorite, the pistachio gelato! A few items were okay, but it may just be my palette. (These were the chicken parmigiana which was a little dry and the pelato ravolinis which I found a bit bland.) Absolutely would return, and the experience of sharing all of our food was such an awesome event! Unexpected and fun!

Pelato is AMAZING!!! The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was exactly what I expected. (Instagram hyped this place up,well deserved) Our experience was purely made by our waiter, Caleb. He is a phenomenal person! He started us with limoncello shots,so fun. He was overall a great conversationalist, funny, and very kind. Thank you!!
