Ken Vedrinski has been cooking Italian in Charleston since Sienna and Trattoria Lucca, and Volpe's is him doing it again with decades of Lowcountry farmer and fisherman relationships to draw on. The menu skips strict regional rules for something looser: American Italian, built on local product.

Rutledge Avenue's restaurant row keeps adding names, and this one arrived with a following already built in. Go in knowing the chef's history is half the draw.
