Brazilian home cooking, pão de queijo baked in house
Chef Thiago Kitchen & Cafe opened on North Clark in April 2026, calling itself a Brazilian soul kitchen. The pão de queijo is baked on site, and it's the first thing regulars bring up.
Starters run to pão francês and short rib yuca croquettes. Bigger plates cover shrimp rice bowls, fish moqueca, a picanha burger, and a chicken parm on ciabatta. Desserts are made in house too, among them a strawberry pavlova and a lemon cake layered with pistachio cream and marshmallow.

Gorgeous interior, great service, and phenomenal food - what more can you want? Our table had several appetizers, multiple different mains, and two slices of cake - all were so delicious!!

My family is not in Chicago often, but I'm so happy that we remembered to stop by this new place when we were in the city today. First, the atmosphere is so beautiful and place is clean. There are so many beautiful details in the decorations, which already made this spot stand out to us. When ordering the food, the Chef told us that he would be cooking everything on the spot, rather than reheating or serving food that had previously been prepped, which is what most places do. Do not expect a fast-food kind of service, but rather, dishes that are made for customers' requests. We spent about $30/person, including dessert. Is it more expensive than other places in the city? No. The price is fair for the made-to-order food with fresh ingredients and authentic culture. We were left so full from our meal, and had to take the desserts to go. We ordered guarana, coxinha/coxão, cheese pastel, beef pastel, and slices of different kinds of cakes. I have not had Brazilian food this good outside of Brazil, ever. Was there oil in the deep-fried foods that we ordered? Yes, but not in the exaggerated way that others are mentioning. It's what you can expect from food that has just been fried. Chef Thiago is amazing at making both savory and sweet dishes. Chicago is so lucky to have Chef Thiago, and I can't wait to share this place with friends. We went out of our way to eat here, and I'm so happy we did!

Just got transported back to Brazil!!!! The food was so tasty. We ordered pick-up but the place was so cute and cozy. We'll be sure to eat there next time. We ordered pastel, empadas and the coxinha. I absolutely loved the heart of palm empadas!

Chef Thiago fills a real gap in the Wrigleyville/Lakeview food scene: a high quality pastry café bringing Brazilian inspired cuisine to a neighborhood that’s been missing this exact vibe. The space itself is vibrant and thoughtfully designed, the kind of place you actually want to linger in before or after a coxinha and a slice of cake. Staff and chef Thiago himself are warm and accommodating. Genuinely a gem of a spot and a boost to the neighborhood. 5/5 stars
