Colombian arepas from breakfast through to dinner

Tropical Bites Flavor House opened on North Central Avenue in Portage Park in May 2026. It runs 9am to 9pm, so one Colombian menu covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the gaps between.

Arepas come filled with cheese and egg. The rest of the list holds beef patatacones and salchipapas, and on weekends the kitchen adds specials, including sancocho with chicken, the long-simmered stew that's usually a Sunday dish.

Delicious food, great service, and plenty of healthy options to choose from. There’s also plenty of parking, which makes it super convenient. Definitely worth visiting!

The food was absolutely delicious! I had the beef empanadas, arepa rellena, pandebono, and a passion fruit smoothie. Everything was packed with amazing flavor and tasted fresh and authentic. The passion fruit smoothie was especially outstanding—so refreshing and delicious. The service was perfect; everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They also have a cozy patio with a TV and great Colombian music playing, which created a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this place to my family and friends. A wonderful dining experience all around!

Wow what a beautiful place. Food is amazing music is great! Service is very good. But it’s the juices for me!!! I love there yummy natural mango juice. And don’t get me started on the cafe con leche. Definitely coming back! 10/10 The menu has so many options good for everyone

WOW! Amazing experience, kid friendly! The server was very attentive to us, the music just made you feel relaxed, the outdoor seating was very spacious and clean! But most importantly the FOOD! Fresh! Healthy! Delicious! Definitely coming back here!
