Shadow Grove's brewers open a NoHo brewpub covered in animal sketches.

The people behind Shadow Grove Brewing in San Fernando opened this second room on Lankershim in the NoHo Arts District in June 2026. The name is the most whimsical thing about it; the brick walls, covered in animal sketches, come second.

Otherwise it reads as a straightforward neighborhood brewpub (burgers, salads, and vegan-friendly starters including fried oyster mushrooms) in a stretch of the Valley that has been short of them.

Cool location. Food was pretty good. Prices were reasonable. Call me old fashioned, but I would like menus brought to me. Not using a QR code to see the menu and order. So, if I am using a QR code to look at the menu and to order food, why is there still an option to tip?

The ambiance and musical selection at this location are somewhat subdued when contrasted with the San Fernando branch. The implementation of QR code ordering detracts from the personalized experience typically associated with a bar setting. Nevertheless, the quality of the food and beverages was exceptional.

Amazing craft beer selection, delicious food, and outstanding service. Everything was fantastic. I'll definitely be back! Best beers at noho!!!

I'm giving this place 5 stars because the beer is incredible, the service is great, and the food is clearly fresh, original, and delicious. LOVE it here. However, the consistency of the dishes really needs to be addressed. I have ordered salads and other dishes here multiple times, and it's never the same. Sometimes there are ingredients missing, and I need to point them out because it's the reason I bought the dish. I have had amazing dressings/sauces and also had tasteless dressings/sauces, with 90% olive oil and no flavor. The chickpeas are either wildly overseasoned, or great. The quality of the food though is so incredible that I overlook all of these things. This is the only thing I offer as constructive criticism because this is what tanks 90% of restaurants in this area, and I really don't want to see this place go too because we've had a SLEW of closures since the pandemic. Fat Dog was my absolute favorite restaurant in noho (which was extremely consistent), and this place is an EASY replacement. I just really want these guys to succeed, but if the community doesn't trust the food, they won't come back. Overall, LOVE this place and hope it stays around.

Got the pork sandwich, American burger, fries, and the vegan ceaser salad. Pork sandwich was banging, a bit spicy for me (but as I have no spice tolerance it should be fine more most people), the meat was flavorful and bread was soft and chewy. Partner had the burger, was also great! Fries I can already tell will be devisive-- it definitely is not crispy, but rather quite soft in the center, but damn are they flavorful. The texture will not be for everyone, but they were seasoned wonderfully-- they might just be in my top 5 restaurant fries I've had. Ceaser salad was also amazing, great flavor and will be my go to when I want something lighter from here ❤️ Will definitely come back! :)
