Amiguita
★ 4.4 · 28 reviews Los Angeles Opened 11 March 2026
Alejandro Eusebio's Afro-Caribbean wine bar in the old Ruby Fruit room.
Alejandro Eusebio waited twenty years to open his own place. Amiguita arrived on 11 March 2026 in the Sunset Junction space that used to be Ruby Fruit, thirty-four seats, family-style plates, and a Mibrasa charcoal oven doing most of the heavy lifting.
The cooking is home-style Afro-Caribbean with Dominican roots: vaca frita off the charcoal with orange mojo and black garlic aioli, yuca latkes, plantain gnocchi, mussels in spicy coconut. Mara Herbkersman runs the drinks, Caribbean beers, cocktails, and a serious non-alcoholic list. The menu changes often.

This was one of the best dinners I’ve had in Los Angeles. Every dish was so flavorful and unique. Each dish was so outstanding, I felt like I was being served competition dishes on Top Chef. The chicken was out of this world and we loved the burrata too. Service was excellent and we look forward to returning!

We have never tried Afro-Caribbean cuisine before so it was our first time having these flavors. The food was good--we ordered the yuca latkes, the plantain gnocchi, the jerk chicken with the potato wedges and the maitake mushrooms. I enjoyed the latkes--they were really crispy and cake with an cream and apple sauce. The gnocchi was good too--it's spiced with a little sweetness. It reminded me of south asian flavors because of the curry-like sauce. The mushrooms were good too but the gnocchi also had the same mushrooms so maybe we didn't need to order that. I also really enjoyed the potato wedges and would have ordered those separately. My husband said he liked his jerk chicken as well. The atmosphere was cozy and very dark--we didn't mind it but might be hard to see a menu. Not sure if we'd come back for the food but but overall it was good and fun to try a new cuisine. Also someone previously mentioned that there was a lack of diversity given it was an Afro-Caribbean restaurant and I can attest that is true....but hey it's Silverlake. It's kind of expected unfortunately.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a loooong time. Everything we got was delicious - the stars were the short rib and the gnocchi. The vibes were immaculate and the service was truly wonderful. Can’t wait to come back!

My partner and I had a wonderful time here! The food was amazing and I wanted to try everything on the menu. They had a fun and interesting wine list as well. Can’t wait to come back and try more items off the menu!

I came across this restaurant on the Infatuation LA new restaurant list and I’m so glad I tried it out. My friend and I were the only two in the place for a while although we went for an early dinner so that made total sense. The interior of the restaurant was so cute and the staff were all really nice. The food was AMAZING. We ended up getting the Yuca Latkes that came with apple sauce and crème fraiche. It was a great spin on the dish and was the perfect way to start out the meal. For the mains we shared the plantain gnocchi and the diri Ak pwa which ended up being the perfect pairing. The plantain gnocchi came with this amazing curry so laying it on top of the diri ak pwa really brought out the best of the two dishes and then the gnocchi itself was cooked perfectly. Overall I was so impressed with everything we got and I’m already planning on going back with my husband. Highly, highly recommend. This place should be packed out every night.
