Japanese soufflé pancake sandwiches, sold to go on Gayley
Kitanoya arrived in Westwood in July 2026, part of a small run of dessert shops that opened near UCLA over the summer. The Japanese import trades in soufflé pancakes, the tall wobbly kind, but skips the sit-down brunch format entirely.
Instead the pancakes are folded around whipped cream and sold as sandwiches over the counter, wrapped for walking. It's a grab-and-go operation on Gayley Avenue rather than a café, which suits a block that fills and empties with the university calendar.

Had to admit that I found this place on accident while walking to in-and-out burger. BUT the souffle was not disappointed! The pancake was super soft and fluffy. The cream was not overly sweet. We chose a set of three cold souffles, mango pomelo, hokkaido milk, and cookie and cream. I also love the color of the take out box! There are two kiosks to order.

Very unique dessert. Light, and moderately sweet. The strawberry is excellent.

Got the strawberry and it wasn’t really that sweet. Kind of wish it was though, but my friends’ flavors (original and tiramisu) were good! Will try them next time
