Tacos Royale

★ 3.9 · 23 reviews Los Angeles Opened June 2026

Mesquite-grilled Sonoran asada out of a Sunset parking lot.

Tacos Royale set up in a parking lot off Sunset in June 2026, run by a Ceviche Project alum and his cousin, who built a name grilling asada back home in Hermosillo. The operation is Sonoran down to the tortillas: flour, made fresh, pressed thin. The beef goes over mesquite charcoal.

The short menu covers asada burritos and two tacos. The asada, cut from chuck roll, and an OG taco built on frijoles de fiesta, refried beans thickened with cheese and chillies, plus beef chicharrón.

Good to know

  • It's a street stand in a parking lot, cash-friendly, late, and weather-dependent.

We’ve been desperately needing some good Sonoran food in LA. Asada was amazing, and they provide the best Sonoran style toppings. Make sure you grab some chiltepin and grilled onions. Don’t sleep on the beans either. And I can’t forget about the drinks, bomb jasmine tea and coconut horchata. Pro tip: get a marg at the cocktail bar behind the tent.

Loved the huge chunks of meat. The guacamole was good, and I really liked the tortilla.

Food is really good. I appreciate the commitment to using a certain part of prime ribeye that they feel is best for their tacos and burritos. Meat is coming off of the grill really fresh. Salsas are nice, guacamole is good, tortillas are excellent. The service is a fall apart mess at least when they are busy. I went yesterday for the first time and arrived around 6:15 to a line with 20 people in front of me. I was order number 21. There was one long line to wait to order, then a second long line for the salsa bar. You fill up your own salsas and everyone is trying to figure out what they want and what each thing is so it takes a long time. Then after that you are standing around trying to hold a bunch of little salsa containers in your hands— no bags are provided, very awkward and frustrating to be holding a bunch of little stuff while still waiting another 20-30 minutes for food to be ready. A full hour after getting in line I finally got my food and my order was wrong. I had the incorrect number of boxes in my bag, asked for a correction and received the wrong item again. Didn’t realize until I got home. Overall an extremely annoying experience. Please have salsas ready in cups so things speed up, please label the salsas so people don’t have to stand behind folks who are having a ten minute discussion about what the things might be and please provide bags for the salsas I will def try this place again if I’m passing by and see it without a line but last night I spent about 70 dollars on two meals that were ultimately eaten cold because the whole system is bad and everything took so long and one burrito was still missing. I really hope operations can improve. LA definitely needs more Sonoran food and like I mentioned above there were definitely positives. The salsa matcha was gorgeous as well. I wish I would have gotten a grab n go tortilla bag to take home. 4.5 stars for the food even eaten cold. Everyone was polite and friendly.

I am at a loss. I would call it elegant simplicity. It’s a tortilla with meat, cheese, beans and cabbage. But it’s not simple. The beautiful blend of flavors is absolutely astounding. This is the best burrito I have had in a very very long time. I got a burrito to go. Ate it immediately and I’m walking away with the second one. Thank you Tacos Royale!

Loved the steak burrito, and the bean + cracklin’s tacos. The salsa macha/chile crunch was superb, very special food item! 10/10!
