Kimpton Ashbel New York - Park Avenue

A 1920s Park Avenue landmark reborn as a boutique Kimpton
The Beaux-Arts tower at 70 Park Avenue spent decades as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel. It reopened in April 2026 as Kimpton Ashbel, a 205-room restoration of the late 1920s building a few blocks from Grand Central.
Busta Studio designed the interiors and made an unusual call: the ground floor reads like a townhouse foyer rather than a hotel lobby, with the Park & Bel cafe set off to the side. Fourteen connecting family rooms and Kimpton's free nightly social hour give it a softer pitch than the address suggests.
Good to know
- The nightly complimentary social hour is a genuine Kimpton tradition, not a gimmick; it happens in the lounge.
- The 14 connecting family rooms make this one of the easier Midtown boutiques for kids.

Me and my friends had a three-night day at this lovely hotel to attend the iconic Jay-Z 25 concert held at Yankee Stadium. The entrance and lobby is has an upscale, New York feel that is true to why people fall in love with boutique hotels. The decor was nice, reception service amazing, and felt well taken care of. We had an issue with our TV and a young man with a lovely sense of humor came right up to help get it fixed. The highlight of our stay was the doorman Ernst who on the night of our concert provided extra care with a car service and getting that iconic experience before we left for our concert. We look forward to staying again soon!

I really wanted to enjoy my stay, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The room was extremely small, the ventilation was poor, and as someone with asthma, that made my stay very uncomfortable. đ The housekeeping and overall service did not reflect the premium price, and I expected much more from a Kimpton hotel. The location is excellent đ and itâs a pet-friendly hotel đŸ, which I appreciated. However, considering the room quality, ventilation, and service, I donât believe it offers good value for the price.

Luxury on Park Avenue! I completely enjoyed my stay at the Kimpton Ashbel NY. I travel often, and I can truly say that this the best customer service I have received in the US. My room was super clean, with brand new furniture and a chic modern design. The hotel lobby had new furnishings with tasteful decor. Thereâs a social hour in the lobby with complimentary wine from 5-6pm every night. However, the best part of my stay was the superb service and hospitality! Fatima is so amazing! She displayed the highest level of professionalism and hospitality. Her warm smile and level of care was so impressive. Another staff member who went above and beyond was Brandon. Very impressive! I have to travel back to NY next month, and I have already reserved another room at the Kimpton Ashbel. Beautiful stay!

We had a great stay! Every single employee we encountered was friendly and went out of their way to assist us - doorman, bellhop, front desk, etc. The room was spacious, much bigger than rooms at the Hyatt Grand Central nearby where I've stayed before. Location was great. You can see Grand Central from the hotel entrance. Renovations are very nice as well. $55/24 hr negotiated parking rate was reasonable.

I have stayed at this hotel several times for trips of more than a week, both before and after the renovation, and it has always been an excellent choice. The location is fantastic, the rooms are comfortable, and many offer wonderful views of the Empire State Building. What truly makes this hotel special, however, is the staff. Everyone is consistently friendly, professional, and genuinely willing to help. They made my stay exceptionally pleasant and went out of their way to ensure I felt welcome and well taken care of. A special thank you to Evelyn, Melanie, Melissa, and Eugenio for their kindness and outstanding service. They made all the difference. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit to New York.
