The George Manhattan

★ 4.2 · 148 reviews New York Opened October 2025

Harlem's first Hilton, 139 rooms from Morningside Park

Harlem never had a new-build boutique hotel until this one landed between Columbia's campus and Morningside Park. Earth tones, deep green and Art Deco detailing fill all 139 rooms, part of Hilton's boutique Tapestry Collection, with a terrace lounge upstairs.

It launched as The George at Columbia, a name locals pushed back on for leaning on the university instead of the neighborhood. It now goes by The George Manhattan. The two full-service restaurants were still phasing in through 2026.

Good to know

  • The terrace lounge is the point; upper-floor rooms on the south side look toward the Columbia campus.
  • Restaurants were still phasing in through 2026, so check what's actually open before relying on in-house dining.

First stay in Harlem and it was wonderful. From our first phone call to the George, we had nothing but professionalism. We were in a bind needing a hotel same day due to a disappointing hotel in midtown. Zach and Michael ensured we were settled in quickly and recommended a place for dinner. Eldris and Gabby at the front desk helped us with directions to Penn Station via the subway. This hotel is a 15 minute or less walk to Columbia/Barnard. We will be back. Clean, great service, and beautifully furnished rooms.

Such a great stay! It's a modern and clean (and I think relatively new) hotel. It's located super close to a subway stop and bus stop. My highest compliment is that it has the BEST shower water pressure I've ever experienced in my life. 10/10

Overall, I had a great stay. The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable, and I felt safe throughout my visit. The location was also a huge plus. After a concert at Yankee Stadium that ended late, I was back at the hotel after just a few subway stops, which made a big difference. My only feedback is that housekeeping could be a little more attentive. I found hair in the shower when I arrived, and at this price point, I'd expect a little more attention to detail with the shower, towels, and washcloths before guests check in. I was also disappointed that the pool wasn't open during the summer.

I recently had the most incredible holiday in New York this May, and I have to rave about the amazing service we received! From the moment we arrived, Gabby and Jahmil went above and beyond to make us feel so welcome. Jahmil gave us fantastic recommendations on where to eat and explore, and Gabby ensured every little detail was perfect—down to the smallest room comforts. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience—New York came alive with their help. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my stay at the George Manhattan Hotel. I chose it because of the location and was not disappointed. The room was nice and comfortable and the 2nd floor provided a nice area for me to take meetings and get work done during my stay. A highlight of my experience was the A-1 level service that I received from ELDRIS at the front desk. From the time I arrived until the time I left, she did everything she could to ensure that I was safe and comfortable. Of note, the entire staff was kind and courteous, as well. That's rare.
